David Stewart of Ellerbe, NC harvested this excellent 18 lb. bird at Blewett Falls Lake near Mountain Creek, Anson County, NC  this 2008 spring season.  He called several ole boys in using my field grade "Dual Hens" box call.  His camera date needs setting!

Mason Krol better known as "Frog" from Stanly County, NC harvested this 21 lb. long beard sporting  an 11 inch beard and 1 inch length spurs in Anson County NC using a Charles Daly 20 gauge youth gun with # 6 Hevi-Shot.

Greg Cook and Frog with a pair of magnificent Anson County Long Beards harvested during the  2007 season.

Frog aka Mason Krol with his 23 lb. gobbler with a 11 inch beard and 1.250 inch spurs taken in Anson County, NC.  Frog is one serious turkey hunter.  That smile says it all!  The ole Long Beard is about as big as Frog.

Frog with his 2008 turkey harvest.  Frog uses one of my early Porter "Prototype" Dual Hens Box Calls.  You can see how much Frog has grown in one year in this picture versus the one above this pix.

John Gaddy of Polkton, NC with a 23 lb. "Boss Gobbler" 2007 spring season.  John has been using my calls for two years now and very satisfied!  John is a serious and dedicated hunter and "Top Flight" in all that he does.

An Anson County, NC 20 lb. gobbler harvested by yours truly Bill Porter.  This ole boy was beak to beak with my jake decoy and he lost his head over a few seductive yelps from my box call with the visual image of a jake decoy about to breed the hen decoy.  What the thoughts of love will do to one!  Go ahead and grin because you know it is the truth.

Quinton Thompson of Mt. Gilead, NC harvested this wiry 18 lb. gobbler during the 2007 spring season.  Quinton has been field testing my calls for two years and owns one of my custom calls in addition to the field grade "Dual Hens" model call.

Ralph Carpenter with a couple Eastern long beards harvested in 2007.  Ralph has been field testing my calls for the past two years and hunts all over the United States.  Can't remember who was hunting with him at the time of this pix.

Donald Campbell aka Duck of Halifax, NC  harvested this gobbler on opening day of our North Carolina 2008 spring season.

Pix of the results of a custom Cocobolo wood deluxe predator call by Ernie Wilson www.ewcalls.com    This call can be easily  "tuned" by the operator for various pitch sounds.

Virginia McSwain of Polkton, NC Spring 2008  with her first turkey under the guidance of good friend and turkey hunter John Gaddy also from Polkton, NC.  Congratulations to Virginia on a fine hunt and harvest!

Bill Porter and opening day 21 lb. long beard on April 14, 2001...came to a box call.

An excellent ole gobbler Quinton Thompson called in 2005...his camera date is not accurate.

Quinton Thompson harvested this 18 lb. Anson County, NC gobbler on 04-20-06.  Read the details of the hunt in the Hunting Stories section of this site.

Greg Cook of Stanly County, NC with a 2008 spring hunt long beard harvested with a Porter Dual Hens box call.

Randy Steele of Cason's Old Field, NC with a 20 lb. long beard sporting a 10.5 inch beard and 1 & 1 1/8 inch spurs harvested on April 13, 2009.

Quote Jim Yarboro of Gun Barrel City, Texas with a Rio Grande gobbler harvested on 04-13-09, "Hi Bill , the call works fine, I had a little tough time because they had already bred and the Gobblers were not coming to a call very good, I had been practicing a lot with the Call and I got him to respond to the Cackle and brought him on in, we have had a lot of high wind and the hunting was pretty hard, this picture isn't very good!  My buddy took it ,must have moved the camera, Have you been Hunting yet?  Later, Jim." "Yea, I forgot all the details, Rio Grande, 8 in beard, 1 in. spurs, about 20 lb, dressed out a little over 14 lbs, I'm going to fry him with your recipe!  Mossberg 12 Gauge 3 in. Magnum at about 55 yards, Jim.

Bill aka Mickey Porter harvested this Southern Anson County, NC long beard on 04-15-09 at 0645 hours.  Long beard weighted 20 lbs., 10.25 inch beard and 7/8 inch length spurs.  Taken at 35 yards with a Remington 11-87 Super Magnum using Remington Hevi-Shot # 5, 1 3/4 oz. @ 1300 fps and Briley .675 choke tube.

Todd Haverkost of Memphis, TN harvested this beautiful  two year old bird with a 10 inch beard and 3/4 inch length spurs in April 2009.  Todd has one of my Dual Hens calls.

Douglas Pettigrew of Reidsville, NC with a bird harvested on 04-18-09.  Doug is my #1 Brother-in-law and has a couple of my turkey calls field testing them in his neck of the woods.

Mason Krol aka Frog of Stanly County, NC harvested this beautiful long beard on Youth Day on private land in Anson County, NC.  Turkey weighed 19 lbs., 10 inch beard and 1 inch length spurs.  Frog uses an early Porter Dual Hens prototype call.  Frog is one serious and dedicated Outdoorsman!

Greg Cook of Stanly County, NC harvested the above 21 lb. long beard with a 10 inch beard and 1 1/8 inch spur lengths on 04-27-09 at around 0715 hours.  The ole long beard lost part of his head from Greg's shot.  Also, I noticed Greg's Porter Dual Hens custom box call in action again.

George Aldridge of Oakboro, NC harvested this long beard in May 2009 ....he emailed pixs of two long beards he harvested using my Dual Hens box call.

Another fine long beard by George Aldridge from Oakboro, NC during the 2009 season.  Looks like those Porter field grade Dual Hens box calls are talking the talk and the Long Beards are walking the walk and I might add their last walk and final strut too!   The above long beard's beard became detached from him after George fired the fatal shot.

Ralph Carpenter left in pix and John Watson from Wadesboro, NC with a pair of nice long beards harvested on May 2, 2009.  Ralph is one of my earliest field testers for my Dual Hens box calls.

John Gaddy of Polkton, NC with a 23 lb. Anson County long beard sporting an 11" beard and 3/4 inch spurs harvested on opening day April 10, 2010.  John was surrounded by several turkeys and got this ole boy around 0740 hours.  The ole tom was hot and answered several different calls including his trusty Porter Field Grade call with a poplar base and cedar lid.  We were surprised at the weight of the bird and only 3/4" length spurs.  Normally around here, the spurs should have been over 1 1/8" length for a bird of that weight and beard length.

Bill Porter with a 21 lb. Long Beard harvested on 04-16-10 at about 0906 hours with a 10 inch beard and 7/8 inch spurs that came in to a hen and jake set-up with a jake tagging along.  The Remington 12 gauge 11-87, 3 1/2 inch Super-Mag with the Black Diamond choke tube and Hevi-Shot Magnum blend of 2 1/4 oz. of 5, 6 and 7 size shot bowled him over at 25 yards right before he was about to attack the jake decoy.  Used one of my Porter Field Grade "Dual Hens" box calls with base made from West Virginia Black Walnut and a Cedar lid from Anson County.

David Stewart of Ellerbe, NC with a 19 lb. long beard with a 10 inch beard and 1" spurs.  David used a Porter Custom Dual Hens box call made from Eastern Red Cedar wood harvested by David himself and a slate call  combination to get him within gun range and headed toward giblets and gravy!

Donald Campbell of Halifax, NC with a excellent Long Beard harvested on 04-21-10.  Quote Donald aka Duck, "I walked around the edge of a freshly plowed field the other day and saw his track and some dusting; went back Wednesday morning and blew the owl hooter one time and he gobbled about 100 yards back in the woods.  Stuck a decoy 25 yards out in the field and set up in the edge of the woods and gave some yelps, purrs and clucks with the Porter Custom Dual Hens Box and he gobbled.  Within 10 minutes, here he comes, BOOM!  19 lbs. and 10 inch beard. (Good Sounding Call), thanks Duck."

John Gaddy of Polkton, NC with a 21 lb. Long Beard with 1 1/4 inch spurs and a 11 3/16 inch length beard.  John Gaddy aka "Big John" got this ole boy on 05-07-10 and filled his NC turkey tags closing the deal on this ole boy at around 0730 hours.  The Long Beard came to his calling and was within 10 yards of his blind and headed for his Spread Wing Jake decoy and toppled the ole boy between 30 to 35 yards.  John used his Browning BSP 3 1/2 inch super magnum shotgun and Magnum Blend Hevi-Shot.  John has an early Porter Prototype Dual Hens box call made out of poplar with a cedar lid and this call has a higher pitch sound than my current calls.  Click on sound for a few yelps from this 2007 call.
