TWEET'S POUND CAKE
INGREDIENTS:
2 sticks real butter
1 cup milk
3 cups sugar
6 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla
3 cups plain flour
In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar
mixing well. Add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly. Add
vanilla and blend in a part of the flour and add part of the milk,
alternating back and forth ending up with the flour last. Do not over
beat. Pour into a greased and floured cake pan. Bake at 325
degrees for 1 hour or until tested done.
Note: This has been "Tweet's" standard recipe for wedding cakes
and anytime you need a moist and flavorful plain cake. This cake is so good,
it does not need a topping, unless your "sweet tooth" is acting up. Comments

Recipe from Joyce Ann Porter aka Tweet. My bride had a near complete
collection of the Wilton Walt Disney character pans and pans of all
sizes and shapes......I know it was more than 100 and she has given most of
them to a niece and others that was baking cakes to sell. She
was in charge of a bakery at Carl's Food Center, Wadesboro, NC many decades back which
means she did most of the baking and cake decorating herself. She
attended a Wilton school in Charlotte, NC to learn some of the Wilton
techniques for flowers, etc. Since then, many new techniques such as
air brushing cakes from patterns is common place now but not used back then.
Below pixs archived of Tweet's cakes from years back. Most were
scanned from old slides that were under exposed and bad lightening such as
florescent, etc. My bad on the pixs. I will add a current pix of the
pound cake when I personally do one:

The above cake is
one of the last wedding cakes that Tweet aka my Bride did for our youngest
daughter's wedding. The young lady in the right of the pix is Kelly
McGrady of Lilesville, NC. My bride had an advertising portfolio at
Carl's Food Center with pixs of her cakes whereby one could get ideas for
special cakes but when the store sold out the portfolio with pixs left with
the owners. The pixs I have do not do her justice to pictorially
display the talent she had for cake decorating.
My bride gave me some
pointers this afternoon 10-19-08 on making her pound cake and did pretty
good except I sprayed to much non-stick cooking oil in the baking pan and
had too much flour "caked' up in there but what the heck you learn by doing!
A few pixs taken and she wanted me to wait and put a better picture on here
but men can be impatient at times and today was one of those days...grin
now.

Got the ole Kitchen
Aid mixer out and naturally had the wrong attachment in there but it worked
anyway...grin again Ladies!
